Then, his landlord used the court system to finagle her way into taking a portion of the winnings. During the litigation, the judge stopped his annuity payments, so he became essentially broke. Post was convicted of a jail sentence for assault, after he fired a bullet at a debt collector coming to take his money. Soon after, he died of respiratory failure.
